After the breakup of Montreal's Stone Dogs, his former band, Yanik Garon spent a few years touring Canada as a guitar player with various bands, producing albums for other artists, creating music for TV shows, and writing new songs. In 2018 he recorded six of these songs, which became Electric Lemming's first EP, This Dead Sun.
